End-of-Year Checklist : Stay Compliant and Prepared for 2025
As the year comes to a close, it’s crucial to ensure you have met all necessary requirements to maintain a professional standing and start the new year on solid footing. Get started now to avoid last minute emails and surprises during the holidays!
From compliance training to administrative updates, here’s your essential end-of-year checklist:
1. Complete Code of Ethics Training by December 31
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) requires all agents to complete Code of Ethics training every three years. This is not just a best practice but a mandatory requirement to maintain your membership with the Realtor board. Failing to complete this training by December 31 could result in the suspension or termination of your membership. If you haven’t completed this yet, now is the time to enroll in an approved course to meet the deadline.
KCRAR is offering two ways for Platinum Realty Agents to complete this requirement
- Register for the “REALTOR® Code of Ethic: Conversion Using the Code” ZOOM class on December 11th from 9:00 AM -12:00 PM where you’ll watch a 3-hour video presented by national speaker, Leigh Brown.
- Being ON camera, with your face visible in a well-lit, professional setting is required. Multi-tasking such as driving, phone calls, etc. is not permitted during the ZOOM session.
To earn CE credit, along attending the video session, complete a 30-question, open-book online exam within 24 hours of the video session ending. CE is approved for 3 HRS of KS elective and hours of MO core credit. - Register HERE for the Dec. 11th 9AM ZOOM video session.
- Being ON camera, with your face visible in a well-lit, professional setting is required. Multi-tasking such as driving, phone calls, etc. is not permitted during the ZOOM session.
- Complete the free, self-paced ON-DEMAND “Code of Ethics: Our Promise of Professionalism (v3)” course.
- This On-Demand class offers flexibility to complete the 3-hour course on your own schedule. A 30-qusetion, open-book exam is required to receive CE credit.
- Register HERE for the self-paced, On-Demand class.
2. Pay Your Annual Realtor Dues
Annual dues for your local, state, and national Realtor associations are due before the end of the year. These dues are critical to maintaining your active membership and, in many cases, your license status. Missed payments can result in fines or even jeopardize your ability to practice. Double-check your dues status with your local board today and ensure payment is completed to avoid any interruptions to your business.
3. Update Team Member Changes
If your team has seen any changes this year, such as new members joining or existing members leaving, it’s important to update these details before December 31. Accurate records help ensure that the Transaction Review Team and the Accounting Team can track your team payments and caps. Update Team Members Here
4. Update Your Personal Information
Have you changed your address, phone number, or email address this year? Did you update your brokerage affiliation or any other personal details? If so, be sure to report these changes to Platinum Realty and complete a new W9 via MyAgentBackOffice.com. Accurate information is essential for receiving your 1099 correctly. 1099s will be sent via email in January, be on the lookout for further information regarding that process.
Don’t Wait—Act Now!
Staying proactive ensures you remain compliant with regulations, avoid unnecessary penalties, and start the new year with peace of mind. Set aside time this week to complete any outstanding tasks and reach out to your board or to the Agent Support Team if you have questions about requirements or deadlines.
Here’s to wrapping up a successful year and stepping confidently into 2025! 🎉
